We are now in Copan. We arrived Wednesday at 2pm and immediately went to the Chorti Mayan village to see patients and perform our skits. The crowd loved them all - and the kids in the community of 67 families was very appreciative of the medicines we dispensed. Dr. Clements also gave a brief tour of the community to the students - accompanied by Ricardo Agurcia - head of Copan Asociacion and a Duke grad. Today we will visit the Mayan ruins and see and learn about the ancient Mayan civilization. Then Friday is free and visits to the Macaw Mountain Bird Park and Zip lining are on the schedule. The rain even followed us to Copan - which is unusual for this time of year here but much appreciated by the locals
The trip has been busy and rewarding - all have seen life in the poorest part of Honduras and today will see some of Honduras' ancient history. The group will be goin to the airport on Saturday morning early - it is a 3 hour bus ride to the San Pedro Sula airport form Copan and be back in Durham late Saturday night - full of new experiences.
